This week from my iPhone.

I'm just a puddle of injuries. Hurt my elbow super bad and thought it was dislocated. Luckily it was just really sprained and I got to wear this cute sling for a few days. Then I messed up my bad foot. Still can't walk on it very well. I'm sick of feeling old!

The kids got "snackeeze" for working hard in school. Trying to reward good behavior over here! And Sam got one well cuz he's cute :)

Asleep with a hot dog in each hand.

Pudding. Or a creepy clown.

Grand Canyon awesomeness.

Hiking up the white tank mountains to see some cool petroglyphs.

Lots of baking over here. Garlic knots, rolls, cinnamon rolls, bread sticks . I swear even though it doesn't feel like fall around here my brain KNOWS.

Jake is finally DONE with the dentist for awhile. After a somewhat traumatic appointment where they almost made us LEAVE because jake was crying and they wanted to put him under,  I talked them in to letting us get it done. (I was not making Jake do this again, he was too upset!) And Jake did great once they got started. Bless the person who invented laughing gas!!

Merry go round at the zoo. It's been fun to have one on one time with my man baby.

The Grand Canyon

We made a quick trip to the Grand Canyon over Labor day weekend. Sadly we hadn't camped all summer so this was our last ditch effort to get in some good camping quality time.

We were awake early so we thought we would try to catch the sunrise over the canyon. Wow. So amazing. The sun coming over was so breathtaking. I'm so glad we hustled over there early.

We did a short little hike, but it was too steep and too close to the edge for my nerves so it didn't last long, but it was beautiful!

Along the drive there is a place with some old indian ruins we decided to tour.

The kids had fun learning to weave a blanket with the park ranger.

A cool view of the canyon from the watch tower. It was a good trip!

Pool life.

Something you need to know about desert life is that pools feel good until about August. Then they feel like what they actually are: giant bathtubs.
Because of the heat, the water gets hot.
But we have had such a good couple of weeks with the unusual weather patterns going around that it's been cooling down at night and the pool has felt so good!! We've had some crazy storms and moderate temperatures around 100 degrees. Now that the kids are getting into a routine with school we are finally getting back to the pool.

The kids were doing a show on dad's shoulders yesterday. I wish I had a picture!

Glendale

Last weekend we decided to venture back to Glendale. After going to the cardinals game there we realized there was a lot to see in that area. Especially since this will be the home of the 2015 Super Bowl. It's only about 20 minutes away and it's on our short list of where we want to settle when we decide to buy.

We started the day off right with crepes!

Hanging at Cabelas.

Froyo and checking out the fountains at Jobing arena.
We found a cool football museum there at the shopping center for free, it had some cool old jerseys and helmets.
Then we let the kids get soaked at the splash pad.
They were a little excited about that.

They had an awesome outlet mall there too. I'll be needing to make my way back there sans husband.

Jacob: teeth, doctors, and school

I've shed more than a few tears over this kid, mostly in the last few weeks. He's amazing to me in many ways, but he is just struggling right now and it breaks my heart. He's been dealing with some health issues that are just scary and it's like pounding our heads against a wall to get answers. His extremities "tingle" or from what we can gather, they go numb. This has been going on for about 4 months, and has slowly gotten worse and worse. Of course moving and changing jobs and insurance and doctors has made this particularly difficult. After several blood, urine, and neurological tests, the doctors say he is perfectly healthy, other than he needs to take a multivitamin for a low Vitamin D level. The kid who already takes a multivitamin and is outside more and browner than any kid I know has low vitamin D. Weird. The neurologist attributed it to unidentified migraines. Meaning, he gets a migraine for no reason, that doesn't actually cause any headache, just numbness. Weird. She said to drink more water. While I am so grateful that he looks healthy otherwise, what are we supposed to do in the mean time?

So after thousands of dollars worth of testing we will be drinking more water and taking a multivitamin.

As we walked through the halls at Phoenix Children's Hospital upset with the "diagnosis" I thought, well I guess I will take it, because I do not want to be here again. Fearing for your child's health and future is scary. And the whole affordable care act fiasco. I get it now. Insurance no longer does what it used to do. It used to help cover most of the costs of healthcare through the premiums you pay. Now it just covers you like car or life insurance does, in case something really bad happens. It's frustrating and sad.

After our neuro appointment we headed to the dentist. That poor dentist. I'm not sure I can go back there. He was a super nice guy, but I was at the end of my rope and was just trying to hold it together when he told me Jake had two cavities that needed to be filled, two filings that needed to be replaced and a tooth that needed to be pulled. This after Jake had just had a cleaning and check up a few months ago before we left Idaho. I felt like there was one of those giant lit arrow signs above my head in neon pointing to the worst mother ever.

And if that weren't enough, he's had the hardest time adjusting to our new lives here in the desert. He has gone from part time Kinder which was about 2 and a half hours a day to full day first grade which is 8-4. I don't blame him. That's a hard transition and that's a long day for anyone, especially a six year old! His teacher is great and we've already sat down with her and gone over our worries with her. I feel like his ability to sit still has really gone down since this whole tingling has been going on. But she's doing the bad cop thing at the first of the year to whip the kids into shape, which I think Jake is taking as "you are the problem child". It's heartbreaking to see. Our days are defined as "green stamp" days or "yellow stamp" days. I've never seen him be self conscious before and I hate it. He's only 6. He is so cool and smart, there's no reason for that! Plus I think he's been getting bullied. Of course he never complains about ANY of this. He takes it in stride which makes me so proud. But being a mother and watching your children go through things that are tough is rough.

Chris gave the kids blessings and we have started on our vitamin regimen so here's hoping to an improvement overall. I just hope this kid knows he's loved and very special.

He lost his second tooth on the bottom! Eating another apple. Oh that boy and his apples :)

Idaho trip part 3 Las Vegas and the Hoover dam

On our way home we stopped through Vegas to show the kiddies all the cool buildings.

I found push-up icecream pops which I loved eating as a kid from the Swanns man.

Spot the children. All three of them covered themselves up with blankets to sleep. Funny.

The Hoover dam was cool and we happened to catch it at sunset which made the sky and water come alive.

What a fun trip we had. We are so glad to be home.

A tooth, some furniture and a football game!

After a few weeks of searching I found a steal of a deal on a living and dining room set! We can finally fit our whole family at our table and even a few guests. Now I just need to get stuff on the walls!

Chris got preseason NFL tickets for the Cardinals and since we only live about 20 minutes away from the stadium we thought we would take the whole family. It was pretty fun! I can't wait for the Super Bowl hoopla next year!!

Cardinals won!

And most importantly this big boy lost his first tooth! He was biting in to an apple and out it came! Love this boy, he's been through a lot these past weeks getting tested for everything under the sun. Still no answers but hopefully soon. His other tooth is super lose, I wouldn't be surprised if it came out this week too!
