Handcart Days Half

I did my first half marathon yesterday! It was a memorable one for sure. I ran it with my sisters and brother. We were getting ready early and my sister realized she had left one of her shoes at home! So she had to run to Walmart and ran in some pretty crappy shoes. She did great and still kicked my butt. I got 13th in my age group. The first 10 miles were good, then it started getting hot. But I was surprised how smoothly and quickly it went. I'm mostly just glad it's over :) training is just too time consuming. Maybe if I had a treadmill it would have been a lot easier with the kids. This wasn't on my list for the year, but it will definitely be a highlight.

Health

I finally took charge. I just switched my home over to healthier, non-toxic, natural household products. I realized that my family is worth it. I want to be around for a long time. I don't want my kids to be sick from the cleaners, and products that are around the house.

I have read so many articles about harmful ingredients that are in our everyday products. No more. I am so excited and can't wait to see the drastic changes in our health from switching over.

Thank you QUEENS OF GREEN!

Number 52

Just got back from girls camp and had so much fun! It was a little bit daunting because I just got put in and I'm still trying to learn all the girls names and get to know everyone.

So the second day we went repelling off a 100 foot cliff. What an amazing view. The second time down, we went down inverted. So I guess I can cross off number 52..do something I've never done before. It was scary, but I'm so glad I took the opportunity.

June in review

June. It went as fast as I thought it would. We were pretty busy, and I feel like I haven't been caught up on sleep for about 2 months. July will be relaxing. Because it will go even faster.

Read 2 books: I read love and logic, and still haven't finished Persuasion. Luckily my yearly goal is to read at least one book per month, I gave myself a little buffer :) Love and logic: great. I'm already implementing it. I wish I had read it years ago. Seriously, why don't kids come with a handbook??

Look who's 5 months...

Man time flies. I'm finally getting that "it's going too fast" feeling. What a sweetheart he is. He's rolling and starting to sit up with pillow help. He wants to move so bad. We have been starting solids and he's doing well. We love him to bits. I got him weighed about 2 weeks ago and he was at 15lbs 5oz. He's put on so much weight since we started on formula. I hate that he prefers it, but we are all so much happier.

My favorite Vegan salad...

My aunt made this awhile back at a family gathering and although the recipe calls for chicken, I just left it out and it's so delectable with no meat or dairy products in the salad or dressing. Yes! I seriously have to stop myself from eating too much because it seems like such a treat. It's that yummy. This is a Bobby Flay original recipe and I'm labeling this a "must try". This is as healthy as a yummy salad can get.

Chinese (chicken) Salad with Red Chile Peanut Dressing

Here is the recipe. Enjoy.

Happy 4th

We had a swell 4th. Pretty low key. Breakfast, parade, BBQ and Fireworks. The kids didn't even make it all the way through the fireworks before falling asleep.

We had an awesome water fight that left us all soaked, did a little slacklining, oh and lost Jake at the parade for about a minute. He was pretty upset. And he has had the worst allergies poor kid. So he looked rough most of the day as well. They had fun playing with cousins, and have finally made friends with Parker's dog I think.

Giants

We had so much fun at the Giants game! We have both been to major league games before but this was something else! So we were heading toward the park to get tickets when this man came up to us and said he had free tickets. We were both skeptical, but we followed him anyways and sure enough he led us to front row seats! He said they were his bosses who had given them to him on short notice and he had called all of his friends and family and no one could come. So we sit down literally 10 feet from the dugout and the batter on deck.
He told us the tickets were worth 30,000 for the season, and his boss is the majority owner of the Giants. We were sitting with all the big wigs. The view was amazing :) The stadium sits right up against the bay, you can smell the water and there were seagulls and fog over the field. To top it off the Giants had an awesome shutout game. We probably looked like such idiots taking pictures and video the whole time, but it was so worth it. I have to note that we were laughing the whole time about our bottled water we paid $5 for. Seriously? It must have been some fine water.

This giant was called the USS DEWEY. It happened to be docked for some special occasion and they happened to be doing a free tour for only 20 people when we walked by. So we got this awesome tour of the entire ship. It's a destroyer so it had all the guns and missiles. They showed us the bridge (the control hub) and the barracks. So claustrophobic, but really eye opening. It was really neat.

I still have so many photos, it seemed like we crammed so much in!

San Fran

Still trying to adjust back to 3 kids but I wanted to post a few more pictures of our trip! Chris had a business trip to San Francisco and I begged him to let me tag along. We did Coit tour, rode bikes across the bridge, visited China town and saw a Giants game. I got to go shopping ALONE. And we ate delicious food (Chris' only request. We are so MFEO :)
It was heavenly!
